Gusto ko

Gusto ko magayos.

Magsuot ng tshirt, jeans at jacket

Rubber shoes at sling bag para komportable

Drunken blush make up sabay buhok na ini-tali

Wallet at cellphone tara lets rock it!

Canadian, Korean, Filipino food ba?

Once decided, puntahan na agad,

kesa magulo pa at mauwi sa Mcdonalds.

Gusto ko manuod ng sine.

Ano bang palabas? Anong oras?

RomCom, Sci-Fi, or Cartoons ba?

Kahit ano basta abot sa oras.

Basta may Popcorn at Maltesers okay na.

Gusto ko mag over-looking.

Daan sa Tim Hortons para sa kape,

Drive papuntang Downtown, park sa tabi

Ilabas ang phone, pang instagram pic.

Magmunimuni habang nagmmusic trip.

Gusto ko ikaw.

Ayusin ang schedule, walang aabsent.

Kelan off mo? Free ako sa lunes.

Ok lang kung hindi mo trip ang mga to.

Dahil sa lahat ng ‘to, ikaw ang pinakagusto ko.

That’s All,

It was a good one, 2017!

This year was a whirlwind for me. I was able to experience a lot of things, 20 year old something me will never imagine. My maturity somehow kicked in. My self confidence was tested, so as my patience and self drive. But most of all I was able to experience happy unforgettable memories and checked off a lot of things in my to-do-list.

I was able to visit Washington DC and New York with my family during early summer. It felt surreal! Going to NY was just part of a dream and because of my siblings It came true. I also get to see Lake Minnewanka and Moraine Lake here in Alberta during end of summer with the family as well. Such pretty places!

After years of waiting, I finally got the chance to work as a nurse. It happened 3 months before the year ends with the help of an old friend. Finding a job wasn’t easy that’s why I feel so blessed when this fell in my lap. Very much thankful for this person as well as to my employer for giving me the chance to show off my capabilities as a nurse. Two months after, I was given another chance to be a part-time employee from casual one.

Through the help of a former classmate and friend, I was able to obtain another job. A casual position as a nurse.

I feel really thankful and blessed for having these people lending their hands to help me.

From a chubby, unhealthy 165 lbs woman I was back on May to now an impressive 131 lbs woman, I can’t help but say wow and brag about it. With dedication and discipline, I was able to pull off kilos and inches away just by clean exercise and diet. No diet pills or drinks used. Everyone’s been happy with the result and can’t help expressing how glad they are.

Paano pa kaya ako?!

Driving is one of those that I have been trying to skip doing since 2010. But since my work was 30 minutes away from where I live, I was forced to drive myself to work. Even bought a car which made me love driving now.

Cooking is one of the things I know I have to eventually learn but didn’t realize it will start this year. The range of the things I can cook widened and I am pleased with the result. Tho most of it still needs work, they are still edible, or atleast to my family. Hahahaha.

Decision making and Prioritizing, still a work-in-progress but I must say that this was challenged mostly in the latter part of the year.

Meeting People/New Friends:

I met a lot this year because of work. I was able to meet new set of friends who are of the same age as me. They’ve been helping me to get out of my shell and experience the things Ive been wanting to do. I am in love with them 🙂

I met two this year. The first guy was someone who’s like very ideal for me, physically while the other guy was someone who I can be myself with. Unfortunately, they are both taken.

In this aspect, I also took a risk of letting my feelings out thinking that it will be reciprocated but since the timing was off, It didn’t push through. And the friendship fell off ten notches down.

It has been a challenging and fruitfull year for me. 2017 tested me well and made me an adult. I guess, I wouldn’t want to have it in any other way. Thank you 2017 🙂

Weight Journey Vol. 2

Since I decided to loose weight last May of 2017, I am proud to say that I have now lost 31 lbs in total. The process wasn’t easy. It does need a lot of determination, focus and a lot of patience.

During this journey, I tried and still trying different ways  on how to loose weight (rushed, moderate phase & relax). Other than having the will to stay fit, one must be willing to move and burn calories. Disclaimer alert: I am not a pro! It worked for me and it might not work for you. And oh? Not much money shedded in here. free and pure and clean healthy living!

1. Exercise: After loosing about 20 lbs from walking in the mall, I changed up my routine and went to a sort of massive workout which I do at home (not on a regular basis). I have a yoga mat, dumbbells (3lbs), 10 lb weight, treadmill and ab chair at home which we bought years ago (You don’t need to buy if you don’t have any, these are optional). My routine usually consist of cardio, arms, and ab workout which takes me 1 hour and 30 minutes max to do. I try to do this everyday as much as I can. When I get busy, as much as possible I don’t let another week pass by after my last workout as the muscles and fats will stop moving if I do. Atleast a day in between is pretty much acceptable.

2. Control: I don’t follow any strict rules in dieting except counting my calorie intake. For my body built and lifestyle I am allowed to take 1200 calories/day but (which, not advised) I try to limit my intake to 800 only or less (Very unhealthy and inappropriate). I eat rice, pasta, cake and all but small amounts only. Starving and depriving  yourself is also not good for your body yerkno!. Beverage wise, I stopped drinking pop and not so on alcoholic drinks anymore. I drink warm water before and after meal to help in digesting and not sure if this is true but I heard it helps on melting the fats you have in your belly part too. Eating is good, just learn to control yourself from eating too much.

3. Go Now!: I have this qoute in my mind that I always tell myself everytime I get lazy working out which is “This time next year, you’ll wish you started this last year!” Which is definitely true! Start working out the moment you thought of it, preferably morning, before you convince yourself not to or do it tomorrow.

“E-C-G for is for the heart and heart is for the soul” Get the humor? Hahaha!

Happy Living Healthy!

That’s it for now,

Last September 16, some Edmonton bloggers and photo enthusiasts gathered for an event in search of the #IGWALLSOFYEG. (IGWALLSOFYEG are mural walls that are scattered around the city that are instagram post goals.)

Unfortunately, we were not able to come with the group because, uhm, we’re late. So we decided to just go by ourselves and follow the locations posted on the event site. It was kind of a breezy afternoon and a lot of things are going on all over the city so we were only able to find 4 out of the many.

The first one we saw was the one behind Blvd by 109 street. It was a bit on the dark side art plus parking was hard by it’s location so we didn’t bother taking a picture.

The other one is by 104 or 105 street. It was colorful and like future meets ratatouille theme. I was able to take a photo but since it took me forever to make this post, I deleted it.

The other two were just about 30 steps near each other and near the wall described above and are located by 103 street. (Parking ALERT: There is a parking space by 102 street and an impark by 103). One of them is a simple red-bricked-glossy like wall.

We had a few photos taken but since it was a bit shaded, lighting wasn’t good.

This last wall wasn’t actually included at their list but since we got a little annoyed on how hard it was to find the walls, we took photos instead.

Posing and taking photos at the last two location wasn’t that embarrassing as not many cars were passing by as it wasn’t the main street. But people passing by are able to see as.
Soon as the weather gets hotter again, we will be searching for more photos and I’ll posting where and how to find them so as parking spots so stay tuned 🙂

That’s it for now.

Such a wonderful view, Minnewanka!

During the last weekend of August, my family and a few relatives went for a picnic at Minnewanka Lake. It was very beautiful and serene scenery that will leave your jaw in the floor. It was a bright blue color lake that beams in your eyes whenever the ray of the sun touches it. It was perfect!

Parking was a little hard though they have a few spaces tend for cars but since it was almost the last weekend before school starts, it was jam-packed. From the parking spot, it will take you about 15 minutes walk to reach the start of where the picnic tables are located. So if you are in groups and brought tons of things might as well have someone to drop you off first before parking the car.

Washrooms are located near by the entrance near parking lot and another one (maybe a couple) throughout the lakeside. Yes, they are clean and equipped!

Aside from picnic and taking photos, there are also other things to do such a kayaking and boats  that can be rented and of course swimming. Here are some of the photo we took:

This is definitely one of the places I recommend people to visit once they enter Canada. Definitely a must see!

That’s it for now,

Choco Chip Cookies!!!

Triple exclamation because why not?! It’s cookies, yerno?

I have tried a ton of chocolate chip cookies before and none of them works for me until I tried this recipe. Before, I always end up having those burnt under cookies with soft top while sometimes I end up having overcooked ones which just end up being not eaten and thrown away and I did not experience those in this recipe.

This cookie recipe is very flexible. It can be done eggless or with egg and if you want it chewy or a little crunchy.

Source: This is a combination of two recipes I found online and use those as basis then I came up with my own (measurements and way of prepping) depending on what I have in the pantry.

Baking Time: 1hr and 30 minutes (can be less)

Servings: 27 or more

  • 1 1/2 all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 butter, melted
  • 1/2 loosely pack brown sugar
  • 1/2 granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup or more chocolate chip

  • In a bowl mix flour, baking soda and cornstarch
  • In a separate and larger bowl, mix butter and both sugars together until creamy for 2 minutes (your choice if with whisk, hand held mixer or stand mixer).
  • Mix the dry and wet ingredients.
  • Add vanilla essence
  • YOU MUST Choose one from the following steps:

– If you want your cookie with egg: add egg
– If you want your cookie without egg: add oil and water

– If you want your cookie with both (what I like): add egg, oil, and water

  • Add the chocolate chips

– Total recommended measurement is a cup of chocolate chips but if you want to add more it is totally fine 🙂

– If you want to use white and chocolate chips it is also fine. Use half and half for both, or more 🙂

  • Mix everything together
  • Prepare your baking pans:

– Grease your pans with butter

– Cover the buttered pans with parchment paper

– Grease the parchment paper with butter

  • Scoop the cookie dough using an ice cream scooper and place with two inches apart each dough to the pan.

– I recommend using the 1 inch size scooper.
– It is advisable to use a scooper so that the cookies are uniform or else some will be under cooked while some will be overly cooked.

  • Bake this in a preheated oven 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes for soft and chewy cookies / 10 – 12 minutes for a little crunch. REMEMBER: Not all ovens are the same so if you think your cookies are under bake give them some more minutes to cook.

And there you have it! Say hello to your cookies!

That’s it for now,

Bicol Express

Ok. Disclaimer first! This is NOT the authentic way of cooking this dish but this recipe is a combination of all the ‘how to cook Bicol Express’ I have seen online. So I came up with my own version that worked with me well without omitting any of its essential ingredients or atleast from what I know are essential.

For those of you who are not familiar with this dish, this can get very spicy so if you are not into spicy foods this one is not for you!

Prep and Cook time: about 30 minutes.

Servings: 4 – 5

  • 1/2 Pork Lomo or Pork Liempo
  • 2 – 3 (depending on size and desire spicy taste) Serrano Pepper
  • 1/2 Onion
  • a half a thumb Ginger
  • 2- 3 tbsp (depending on desire salty taste) Shrimp Paste (Alamang)
  • 1 can Coconut Milk
  • Oil (if using Pork Lomo)
  • Salt and Ground pepper

  • Cut pork into cubes.
  • Cut onion, pepper and ginger into cubes like in the picture.

  • Put fire in medium heat and in your pan,

– if using pork liempo (or any with fats in) DO NOT put oil as the pork will release oil from the fats.

if using pork lomo (or any pork without fats) DO  put oil to help in sautéing.

  • Just leave pork in pan while it cooks, stir occasionally to prevent from burning.
  • After about 7 – 10 minutes, add the onion and ginger without removing the pork in the pan. Stir occasionally.
  • After 10 minutes, add the serrano peppers. Then add the shrimp paste. Stir occasionally.

TIP: the longer you saute (sangkutsya) the better. Trust me 🙂

  • Stir in the coconut milk.
  • Turn knob into low fire and let the food boil/simmer while waiting for the pork to be tender.

– if using Pork Liempo: this needs time, check the pork if tender while food is in simmer.

– if using Pork Lomo: this is already tender so, when the food is boiling already, proceed to next step.

  • Taste the food first so you’ll know how much salt and pepper you’ll be needing to add.

TIP: Salt and Pepper must be done only before turning off the stove.

And there you have it. Bicol Express finish product!

Enjoy eating! Better with newly cooked rice 🙂

That’s it for now.

If ako si Ate Best Friend sa Jollibee commercial

OKAY. So Jollibee released a new commercial recently and it is a prerequel of the one they released early this year. Everyone was in awe with the first one, yung “vow” but on this one, hati eh.

First of all, kudos to the people behind this campaign. I’m pretty sure you all worked hard for this. Good job for thinking outside the box. Magaling yung concept. Relatable!

Back to the commercial.  MASAKIT SYA BES! If I will put myself in her exact shoes and bring this whirlwind romance to life. Heto ang aking saloobin.

If napansin mo, that very first time na nagkatinginan tayo, Napayuko ako. It’s because sa utak ko, “oo cute ka, pero hindi mo dapat nakita na nakatingin ako sayo. Dyahe!” but then you came up to me and asked if the seat was taken. I wanted to be alone sana so I could eat and study at the same time but then here you are all cute and charming. So kahit sabi ng parents ko “Don’t talk to strangers” eh I shared my table with you. Nauto mo ako sa smile at french-fries dipped in gravy! Napa-smile tuloy ako.

Then you saw her. Oo! Nakita ko yun! She was looking at the menu – You were looking at her – I was looking at you… Sino nakatingin sakin? I should have known by then that this love-struck feeling I have is not going anywhere. But then again nauto mo na naman ako sa french fries! So kahit I feel broken inside, napa-smile mo pa rin ako. Ang saya mo kasi eh after seeing her.

I was very supportive of you na kahit na para sa kanya na yung ginagawa mo eh ok lang. Kahit sabay tayo nagmumukhang engeng, I still cheer for you, kahit deep inside ang sakit sakit na. Yung totoo, nahawa ka ba sa pagiging dense nya sayo?

Then here comes her wedding. You were standing by the aisle, staring at her, speechless, amazed and hurt at the same time habang siya staring at the altar, walking, trying not to bawl due to happiness. And me? Staring at you, crying, and convincing myself that you and I will never going to happen. But then you saw me. I looked down. I walked away. I left.

Then now, here you are, eating french-fries while reminiscing our good times together. Nakakatawa ka. Just because you realized that I have feelings for you, eh bigla mo na lang din maiisip na gusto mo din ako? Of all the people you should be the one to know that what I felt for you is something really painful. Something that needs time. If you were really my friend… best friend, hindi mo ako bigla susungaban ng ganoong hirit. Sabay hahawak ka pa sa kamay ko pagkatapos mo hawakan yung french-fries. “Nagpunas ka man lang ba? Ang greasy ng kamay mo eh!”

So, what now? You like me, ok. Why just now? Gusto kita, but I have to move on from you! Kaya nga ako nakangiti ng hinawakan mo kamay ko eh kasi this time, I know better! There’s a perfect time to find your perfect pair (Jollibee, 2017). That’s true! But this is not the right time because you are not the one for me! You will always be my friend and I deserve someone better than you to be my “the one”.

Sabi sayo Jollibee eh, relatable siya!

That’s it for now!
